Following on from yesterday, today is another day, so I thought I would focus on the positive as opposed to the negative revelations of yesterday. I thought it would be good to give some space and time to this man who has been a rock, a ray of sunshine and sometimes, not often but sometimes a huge pain in the butt!!! Lol..Alan would be the first to smile at this, one of the many reasons why I love him
This morning has been spent looking for hotels, and flights to that big city called London, we havent been able to make it away for a break this year, so Alan suggested we go away for a few days, visit my daughters and take in a few sights…Really looking forward to this, although I could never live in a big city like London ( My country girl heart needs lots of green and wide open spaces) I do so love to visit.. So Febuary 10th we take off, little trips matter just as much as the big one I plan to take.
In the 5 years since we met and Alan has shown me places that I never knew existed, that includes lovely little pockets and treasures that are here in my own home city Aberdeen. Having been raised in the country and then moving to England shortly after marrying, there was so much of this city I hadnt seen…..I was amazed and when the weather improves I promise to take my camera on tour and capture some images for my blog, so I can share this little corner of the world with others.
During my twenty years in England I live on the edge of the Lake district in a little town called Barrow-in-Furness, famous for its shipyard, where trident submarines were built, also nearby Sellafield /Windscale the nuclear station, people depended on these places for work, yet there was the controversy and opposition surrounding them.
The surrounding area was spectacular with the beautiful, lakes so close at hand, Windermere, Coniston,Ullswater too many to mention, and the beautiful hills…Autumn in this area was my favourite time of year…….the colours were so rich, the leaves when fallen created this beautiful carpet of golds, russet reds and browns……simply stunning, now I wish I had thought to take my camera, but alas. Coming home made me realise just how much this tiny island we call Britain has to offer in terms of variety of landscape and colour.
The picture of Alan was taken in Italy a couple of years ago, taking in Sorrento, Naples, Capri and Rome. We did this travelling by coach…it ended just like one of those t.v. documentaries……….the journey from hell……but thats another story for another day another time…….
