The M&S Way

Day off today, so it was head for the country and breathe some fresh air, get some exercise and well,  here we go,   PIG OUT AGAIN !!!!

Its been a quite a grey day weather wise, but dry and mild so we headed out to a lovely little town called Banchory, not too far from the city,  had a stroll in the park there with the dog, down by the river, then headed off to find somewhere nice for lunch.  The scenery is lovely in this area lots of forests, streams and bigger rivers..Even a few of those smaller scottish castles dotted here and there amid the big estates.

The place I had suggested is about a 20 minute drive from the town we were in, a lovely little inn that in times past used to be a travelling inn. Lots of winding roads but finally we got there, hungry and looking forward to food, we arrived to find the car park empty and the place closed, we had missed their closed for lunch by a matter of five minutes. Oh well!!!! It made me realise how accustomed we get to food being served all day in the city pubs.

We journey on and found a lovely little hotel, situated by a river in a little hamlet called Potarch, we had just made it by five minutes as they served till 2.30, imagine the big smile on my malnourished? face.  This little place was perfect in every way, quite oldy worldy, lots of beams, and very original, charming and quaint……………And it had a real log fire burning away at the far end of the room, bliss, I just adore the smell of wood burning, and the warmth, the ambience

So come sit by the fire and warm yourself and I will tell you what I had for lunch the M&S way…..A light lunch, just enough, starting with tomatoe soup and a bread roll or as M&S would say, a delicious soup, prepared from fresh ripe sunblushed tomatoe, bursting with flavour, balanced with a delicate hint of garlic and finished the freshest, just picked from the stalk, garnish of corriander leaf.  Served with home baked, granary bread, crisp and warm from the oven, just waiting for that coating of real british butter. As you can see the soups been half devoured by the time I had this flash of inspiration to take a photo with my phone, Its perfectly normal behaviour isnt it…Think the poor waitress thought I was some health and safety inspector making an on the spot check Lol

Soup was followed by the best sticky toffee pudding that has ever, ever passed my lips to date….Warm baked with just the perfect amount of fruit, liberally drizzled with oh so sticky yummy toffee, S*D M&S this is my moment and served with cream and ice cream, double delight…the presentation was beautiful.  Accompanied by a couple of glasses of Chardonney, and that must have cup of coffee, with the two pieces of home made melt in the mouth fudge to finish. Note,  Im not sharing that!!!! Then back home, full and happy and refreshed after a lovely day off and out.

? Is it ok to take photos of your food in public places, or is blogging having a strange effect on my personality and behaviour, What next I ask myself?????
